Thank you for stopping by! The Retro Attic is your 24/7 listener-supported internet radio guide to the music of the 50's through the 70's. We play lost and classic top 40 hits, but we also place a heavy emphasis on the minor charters and non-charters...or as we call them, bottom 45's. Special Mixcloud shows will be announced as time permits. If you're a VIP member and have a general suggestion or a song request, then please use our chat widget in the lower right corner or the manual contact form below. Your request will be queued for play at a minimum of 60 minutes if it is already in the station's inventory; otherwise, I will process your request as soon as I can. Please read the "Membership Special" post below if you're interested in submitting multiple song requests every day (18 a week plus occasional theme blocks and your own idea for a special show); I can only serve those who are willing to contribute, since the costs to bring you a high-quality stream are astronomical these days. Please note that the membership contribution is ONE-TIME ONLY AND ISN'T REQUIRED EVERY MONTH.

If you appreciate what we do, then please make use of our PayPal buttons on the site. You can donate a one-time amount or choose from 10 monthly subscription amounts; the donations will help enhance our programming and keep us on Live365. Yes, The Retro Attic is legitimate and pays artist royalties!

There may still end up being a little bit of downtime sometime this month as I really need to get with the times and get my servers upgraded. My host company has put file transfer requests on hold for the past month, so it's time to see if they're ready to do the transition for me now.

May you have a fantastic 2019! Keep up with the latest Attic happenings by signing up at https://www.facebook.com/groups/retroatticrareoldiesradio/ or following us on Twitter at https://twitter.com/gilbertoldiesdj.

RETRO ATTIC POTENTIAL SHUTDOWN IS NOVEMBER 30TH

The Retro Attic may be shutting down at the end of November. If you would like to prevent this from happening, then please look at the thermometer on our webpage. I have a small monthly goal that would only take around 20 people to help achieve it. If you want something more than just showing your genuine appreciation for what I do, then check out the VIP membership deals. They are more than reasonable and give you a great opportunity to get proactive with the programming. The deadline is November 30th.

I can't be doing this for free anymore. If you want me to put in the man hours to compile an occasional special show, theme blocks, and a Featured Artist Of The Month, then I need some help. Taking out Facebook and Google ads, having the Now Playing/Recently Played widget, having the station be Alexa enabled, having metadata show up on Tunein, having the songs post on Twitter, and of course having the server...yes, these things cost a few bucks.

It has been pretty quiet lately. I know it's hard to compete with the Spotifys and SiriusXMs of the world, but I'm doing my best. It's just hard to stay motivated when you hear nothing but the sound of chirping crickets.

I don't want to shut down, and I know there are at least a few of you out there who don't want me to shut down either. As The New Colony Six once sang: "Please don't ever let that happen."

10/26/18 SONG OF THE DAY!

SONG OF THE DAY! Bread - Mother Freedom. Debuted on American Top 40 on 8/14/71 at #39, jumped to #37 the following week, and then it was toast. People were expecting nothing but soft rock from these guys, but quite honestly, I liked the change of pace. If I had been a field rep for Elektra, I would have pushed for "Down On My Knees" to be a hit. "Mother Freedom" lives on at The Retro Attic, where it's never a dismal day for oldies music!

Arkade - Sing Out The Love(In My Heart)

Some of these you may not have heard of. Tina Charles was a gal who, while she may not have had any U.S. hits on her own, did sing lead on the mid 70's top 30 dance hit "I'm On Fire" from 5000 Volts. Neil Scott was better known as Neil Bogart, the founder of Casablanca and Buddah Records. Pat Hervey was pretty much the Canadian equivalent of Brenda Lee. And Arkade...you will hear some background info on the group when you hear it on the station!

Thanks for tuning in and thanks to those who have offered their support! And prayers go out to those who may end up in the path of Florence on the east coast.
