Thank you for stopping by! The Retro Attic is your 24/7 listener-supported internet radio guide to the music of the 50's through the 70's. We play lost and classic top 40 hits, but we also place a heavy emphasis on the minor charters and non-charters...or as we call them, bottom 45's. Special Mixcloud shows will be announced as time permits. If you're a VIP member and have a general suggestion or a song request, then please use our chat widget in the lower right corner or the manual contact form below. Your request will be queued for play at a minimum of 60 minutes if it is already in the station's inventory; otherwise, I will process your request as soon as I can. Please read the "Membership Special" post below if you're interested in submitting multiple song requests every day (18 a week plus occasional theme blocks and your own idea for a special show); I can only serve those who are willing to contribute, since the costs to bring you a high-quality stream are astronomical these days. Please note that the membership contribution is ONE-TIME ONLY AND ISN'T REQUIRED EVERY MONTH.

If you appreciate what we do, then please make use of our PayPal buttons on the site. You can donate a one-time amount or choose from 10 monthly subscription amounts; the donations will help enhance our programming and keep us on Live365. Yes, The Retro Attic is legitimate and pays artist royalties!

REQUEST ROULETTE/REQUEST RACE FEATURES FOR 3/25

It's time for "Request Roulette," a feature I would like to do 3 times a week! Request a lost or classic platter from 1957-1989 and I will choose 1 out of a hat from the first 10 requests I get(1 request per person, please). The one chosen will be announced at 11 AM eastern tomorrow and will be played during the 11 AM - 12 PM hour. I encourage you to make your request a challenging one as I won't be playing a tune that is already in one of my 5 song year blocks.

Also sometime tomorrow, I will be doing a "Request Race." Once I make the post(look for Request Race: at the beginning of it), the first request I receive will be played during the next hour. The fun and great listening will be taking place at http://retroatticrareoldiesradio.com.

NEW ADDS FOR 3/23 AND WE WILL BE GOING COMMENTARY/VOICEOVER CRAZY!

Tonight, I'm adding in new blocks for 1967, 1969 and 1959, with featured lost oldies from The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, The Zombies, and Gary Stites.

You will hear some changes beginning with the above blocks. The 4 top 40 hits in each block will include a Billboard peak position jingle(I have always included that info in the metadata, aka "that artist/song title stuff that should be displaying in your media player") and the featured lost oldie will include some quick facts/commentary from me. Yes, I said "commentary!" You want some personality on this station...okay, you will get it! Heck, I may even add in my local weather and local concert listings sometime soon. There will also be a few surprises thrown in from time to time, such as soundbites, vintage radio ads, etc. Some certain individuals aren't going to like the increased talking(especially considering where it will be placed), but c'est la vie...whatever it takes, I want to see true loyal Listeners, not "listeners." I hope this makes sense; without coming right out and saying it, I was making reference to a rampant problem that a lot of internet radio broadcasters experience.

A couple of other sidenotes...Linda Ronstadt will be our Featured Artist Of The Month in April, and I am looking to showcase around 100 of her classic tunes. Other artists coming up later in the spring and summer include The 4 Seasons, Chuck Berry, Roy Orbison, Sonny And Cher, and The J. Geils Band/Peter Wolf.

I have also added a new poll on my webpage where I am asking you to choose some new 1 hour show ideas I am currently considering to start in May. There are 7 choices, and you can make multiple selections. Visit http://retroatticrareoldiesradio.com to tune in; the poll is located near the bottom of the page, down the right side. I will share the poll in a separate entry in a few minutes from now. Thanks in advance for your help and for your continued listening!

3/19 NEW ADDS

If you were/are an 80's fan, then you will enjoy the blocks I added today: 1981, 1987 and 1988! Mixed in with the 12 lost and classic top 40 hits are minor charters from the midwest U.S. power pop band Hawks, Prince proteges Wendy And Lisa, and Mike + The Mechanics(a song that I saw them open live with the very weekend that "The Living Years" hit #1).

During the weekend, I will be concentrating on blocks from the late 60's, late 50's, and early 70's.

Tune in now at http://retroatticrareoldiesradio.com, where you can download one of our four free apps through our partnership with Nobex Radio or simply tune in through the players on the webpage. I am always taking requests and suggestions for future blocks.

3/17 NEW ADDS

Added blocks for 1972 and 1979 tonight, which feature minor charters from The Magic Lantern and Robert John. Tomorrow will be all about the 80's as we add blocks from 1981, 1987 and 1988. The '81 block will include a lost top 40 hit that was my choice for the first dance song at my wedding; my wife and I were surprised at how many other people remembered it! Find out what it is by tuning in later on today at http://retroatticrareoldiesradio.com.

REPETITION ISSUE

The Retro Attic Of Oldies is now back on Shoutcast, which made me decide to rebuild the station from scratch. For a little while, you will be hearing the same 5 song year blocks over and over while I'm in the rebuilding process. I apologize for this, but the previous programming format I had on Icecast had no organization to it whatsoever; I would rather have my listeners hear "mini musical history lessons" for 1973, 1985, etc. instead of bouncing all over the place with each song.

Eventually, everyone should be pleased! When all is said and done, I will have a different playlist for each day of the week. The only chance of something repeating during the same day will be one of the random tracks from my Featured Artist Of The Month. Once those 7 playlists are completed, any new year blocks I put together will be added to the next day's playlist.

I know it's frustrating, but stations have to change their presentation every so often or else they will get stale. Bear with me, keep checking in periodically, and you will find that my variety of oldies will get more and more diverse!
